Filmmaker's Bio
Elizabeth Hesik is a documentary director and producer interested in exploring issues of memory and youth. Her moving personal documentary THE OJAI VALLEY (2000) is currently distributed by Espresso T.V. in London, was an official selection of the 2001 International Documentary Festival in Amsterdam Docs for Sale, and won the Director’s Award at the 2001 Smogdance Film Festival. Her short films and collaborative projects have screened widely at independent venues, including Location 1 in New York City, MAK Center in Los Angeles, 911 Media Arts in Seattle and the Aurora Theater in Houston. She was the U.S. Correspondent for the Cretéil International Film Festival in France from 1998 to 2002. She received her MFA in Film and Video from the California Institute of the Arts and her BA in Cultural Anthropology from Sarah Lawrence College. She currently resides in Los Angeles.
